Plane Struck By Lightning During Severe Storms Makes Emergency Landing At Bradley

A plane that was struck by lightning was diverted to Bradley International Airport for an emergency landing Tuesday evening.

The flight, which originated in Manchester-Boston Regional Airport was on its way from New Hampshire to Orlando, Florida, when it was struck, airport officials said. 

*The aircraft landed safely at Bradley International Airport at approximately 7 p.m.," said Alisa D. Sisic, spokeswoman for the airport.

Operations at the airport were not affected.

At the time of the lightning strike, the National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touchdown in Rhode Island as a storm system passed through the region quickly. 

A tornado warning had been issued for Norfolk County, Bristol County, and Providence County at the time.
